Borrower To Beggar
Michelle D. Lewis

The chances of youth an old beggar seeks
when her dream of a dream is all she keeps.
But the road is relentless and time has run long,
doors are found rigid, walls are too strong.
She struggles to find a place to belong.

Life's trials are spent weary for naught
for the aging beggar whom time has forgot.
Rivers of regrets she's filled and cried,
pools of passions locked deep inside
never to surface, yet never to subside.

Cast unto shadows, expectations are gone,
a lifetime of songs still remain unsung.
Numb recollections haunt a mind well spent,
too soon to relinquish, yet too late to reinvent.
Borrower to beggar for a life to reclaim-
borrower of time, now she begs for the same.
